Venice Day 3 - Islands of Torcello & Burano in the sunshine..

Today we awoke to sunshine and blue sky... wonderful.  We were off to visit two of the nearby islands by boat today.  So after brekkie we headed off through the lanes.

and down to the lagoon to catch the boat.  We were expecting to go to Burano and change there for Torcello but as luck would have it, our boat went on to Torcello.

And we disembarked at Torcello... it was the most gorgeous day!

We later identified this as a Wall Brown

We went up the Tower of the Cathedral

and off to Burano which is the lace making island..

and the Island of Mazzorbo..... just had to cross the bridge...

and later that evening whilst eating dinner, I got a text from Easyjet advising our flight home in 2 days time had been cancelled due to Italian industrial action.  Having lost the taste for food, we headed back to the hotel to extend our stay for 2 more nights.

The hotel staff were great and soon had us sorted.  Now putting in a claim for the extra cost to Easy jet.... fingers crossed..

But a fantastic day nonetheless :D
